JUSDA: Jurnal Sekolah Dasar is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding and pedagogical foundations of elementary and primary education. Positioned at the critical intersection of child development, instructional psychology, and educational sosiology, the journal serves as a premier intellectual repository for elementary education scholars, curriculum policymakers, educational psychologists, and primary school practitioners worldwide. JUSDA prioritizes macro-level educational evaluations, rigorous empirical classroom research, and innovative teaching methodologies tailored explicitly to the cognitive, behavioral, and socio-emotional dynamics of young learners. By bridging foundational childhood learning theories with emergent digital and inclusive education paradigms, the journal fosters a global dialogue on optimizing the formative years of human education.
Scope and Topics
The journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, critical reviews, and conceptual papers that offer significant contributions to the following thematic areas:
-
Primary Pedagogies & Subject Matter Instruction: Innovative approaches to teaching core elementary subjects, including foundational literacy, mathematical reasoning, social studies, scientific inquiry, and values/character education.
-
Child Development & Learning Psychology: Cognitive development in middle childhood, emotional regulation, motivation theories in primary schooling, guidance and counseling, and behavioral interventions.
-
Curriculum Design & Educational Policy: Comparative elementary curriculum frameworks, macro-level educational policies for primary sectors, assessment and evaluation innovations, and school leadership dynamics.
-
Inclusive, Special & Early-Years Education: Differentiated instruction, managing neurodiversity in mainstream classrooms, multicultural education, and the transition paradigms from early childhood to primary schooling.
-
Digital Learning & Educational Technology in Primary Schools: Blended learning frameworks for young learners, the ethics of educational gamification, digital literacy for children, and the implementation of assistive technologies.
Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and timely dissemination of cutting-edge educational research, JUSDA is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues targeting systemic structural changes in primary education or global pedagogical crises may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.
Peer Review Process
JUSDA enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and scientific objectivity.
-
Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological validity, and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
-
Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established experts in elementary education and child development sciences.
-
Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on the intellectual merit, empirical rigor, and practical relevance of the work to the field of primary education.
Mission Statement: "The mission of JUSDA is to deconstruct and elevate the quality of primary education as the cornerstone of lifelong human development and societal progress. Grounded in the philosophy that equitable, innovative, and robust elementary schooling is vital for cultivating critical thinking and democratic citizenship, the journal aims to democratize pedagogical knowledge by providing an unrestricted, high-impact platform for global scholarly dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse methodological approaches—including qualitative action research, quantitative longitudinal studies, and mixed-method designs—JUSDA seeks to empower educators, inspire curriculum innovators, and shape future-proof policies in global elementary education."
